This went straight to the top of our chart - the atmosphere, food and service were all top notch. Slightly confusing entrance was the only thing we found to criticize. Really enjoyed our visit here.

Our second favourite of all the restaurants we have tried so far. Nice atmosphere and lovely food. Yum.

La Petite Auberge, Teddington

Lovely - really enjoyed what was fairly modest French restaurant. The only minus we could find was that the lighting was a bit bright (yes, pathetic isn't it?!). Everything else was excellent - food is well cooked, authentically French and the service was unobtrusive and efficient. Very good indeed.
Ma Cuisine,

We really like Ma Cuisine. So much so that we have been twice. Really nice French food with a great atmosphere. The only thing that edged others into the lead was that the food at Ma Cuisine is a bit creamy for our tastes (not necessarily a drawback, we know).

We had a feeling of deja-vu when we visited this restaurant - it is Browns Seafood Restaurant (see below) made over as a French Restaurant. It was a bit empty when we visited (thus the moderate atmosphere rating). The food was imaginative and well presented. We would recommend it, definitely, but maybe go on a busier night so it feels a bit cosier.

Simply Thai

We visited this restaurant after it had won the title of 'best Thai restaurant in the UK' on Gordon Ramsey's 'F Word' programme so our expectations were high. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't great and the staff a bit haphazard. When it came, the main courses were absolutely delicious. The sticky rice pudding with mango was to die for.

Brula, Crown Road, St Margarets

Seems VERY expensive for what you get. Nice food, but couldn't help looking askance at the price. Paid £2.50 for a cup of hot water with some mint leaves.

The food is spicy and interesting. Moonstone knew it from years ago and felt that the atmosphere wasn't as good nowadays - where are those chillis?

Anthony Worrell-Thompson owns this place and it was a bit of a boost to find him eating there the night we went. The food was very nice, but a bit filling. Small but friendly and 'buzzing' atmosphere.

Very nice place from the same people that run Ma Cuisine. Tasty food, but enjoyment depends upon whether you like this format (small amounts on multiple plates).

Fishworks

Lovely fish - this place has a fishmonger's out front where you can wade through fishy puddles to get to the restaurant. The fish is great but a little expensive (side orders small for the price). Feels as though you are in an aircraft hangar. Noisy and not very relaxing but worth a try.

Also known as the Fishermans Hut. Lovely fresh fish and nice atmosphere. Enjoyable meal, but a rather noisy restaurant.

Food very pleasant but didn't seem to be much variety in flavours. Music wasn't to our taste and was a bit intrusive. Nice, but probably won't be tempted back there.

The prices were very reasonable - except for water at £3.50 per bottle - but the food was a little disappointing. We liked it - but all found something that didn't quite impress.

A little disappointing after a good start. Overcooked tuna steak was a bit tough and other food was good in parts.

Nice ambience. This place has lot of local competition (La Petite Auberge is just a few doors away and Restaurant Noel is nearby). Some of the food was very nice, but some unsubtle spiciness and rather overpowering fish stock gave this a bit of a thumbs down.

Part of a chain of Italian-inspired restaurants. Nice food, nice setting - recommended, but being part of a chain reduces the character.

Fabulous setting - as before when it was Canyon. Food was massively expensive for what it was. Service was fairly poor. We had burgers and spatchcock chicken which was pleasant, but.... Would have been a lovely meal at half the price.

Sister restaurant to La Petite Auberge (see above) but very disappointing when we went. Atmosphere very lacking - not helped by the fact that our table was on a part of the floor that constantly vibrated - very strange!

American restaurant on Richmond riverside. Great views over the Thames - its' where we came up with the name for this website. Food pretentious and lacking in flavour, though.

Atmosphere of a transport cafe. Fish was quite nice and very reasonably priced. but overall not a particularly good night out.
